NAVAL ASSOCIATION – BAYSIDE SUB-SECTION
The Bayside Sub-Section comes under the Naval Association of Australia (Queensland Section). It provides wellbeing, camaraderie, and support for its members in addition to supporting the local Australian Navy Cadets.
Bayside general meetings are held monthly at 1200 in the Tobruk Room at the Redlands RSL on the first Saturday of the month beginning with an AGM each February.
The Bayside Sub Section is an active and motivated group of men and women who actively embrace and support the five pillars that underpin the Naval Association of Australia, namely:
- Care (welfare) for the diverse and crucial support of Navy and ex-Navy men and women
- Commemoration by maintaining the legacy of past service and sacrifice.
- Navy Cadets (ANC) by assisting youths to become better citizens through support to the ANC.
- Camaraderie to meet and socialise with like-minded Navy and ex-Navy men and women.
- Community (engagement) How we interact with and support our local communities.
The Bayside camaraderie, commemorative, wellbeing, and veterans support activities throughout each year include:
- Fellowship in the Redlands RSL Club after general meetings
- Informal wellbeing meetings, including the Veterans Cuppa mornings
- An annual fully subsidised ladies lunch held in the RSL’S Sails Restaurant
- An annual Ladies Dining In Night
- An Annual Christmas Party
- Fundraising Raffles within the Redlands RSL Club and Bunnings BBQs
- Attending ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day, and Vietnam Veterans Day commemorations.
- Members attendance at monthly Naval commemorative ceremonies at the South Bank Park Jacks memorial
- Attendance at Navy reunions
Membership is open to a wide range of current and ex-serving members of Australian and Commonwealth Naval Forces and their spouses and partners.
